Mother Teresa Biography

Albanian religious, Indian nationalized. Born into an Albanian Catholic family, the deep religiosity of his mother woke her missionary vocation was twelve. While still a child, entered the Marian Congregation of the Daughters of Mary, where he began his activity of assisting the needy.
At eighteen he left his hometown forever and traveled to Dublin to profess the Congregation of Our Lady of Loreto. As I wanted to be a missionary in India, he sailed for Bengal where he studied teaching and chose the name Teresa to profess. He worked as a teacher at St. Mary's High School in Calcutta until 1948, when Rome was authorized to engage in the apostolate for the poor.
In 1950, Mother Teresa founded the Congregation of the Missionaries of Charity, adopted in 1965 by Paul VI. The members of this congregation, to be added to the traditional vows of dedication to the "poorest of the poor", achieved a rapid deployment in India and in other almost one hundred countries; meanwhile, the founder mobilized against abortion and euthanasia, consistent with the papal doctrine of John Paul II.
